Hello Diary,

Today brought an interesting challenge that required some research and collaboration with a pediatrician. A pediatrician contacted us asking if we could provide a dye-free Keflex suspension for a young patient. Understanding the importance of avoiding dyes for certain children, we were determined to find a suitable solution.

Initial Inquiry: The pediatrician sent the patient’s mother to pick up the Keflex suspension from us. Knowing that dye-free options can be critical for some kids, I assured them that we would do our best to find an appropriate formulation.

Research Process: I went through all four manufacturers of Keflex suspension, hoping to find a dye-free version. Unfortunately, none of them offered a dye-free option. Not wanting to disappoint, I looked for alternatives within the same class of antibiotics.

Finding an Alternative: I discovered that Omnicef, another cephalosporin antibiotic, is available in a dye-free suspension. I immediately contacted the pediatrician to discuss this alternative. After reviewing the information, the doctor agreed that switching to Omnicef would be a suitable option.

Patient and Family Satisfaction: When I called the patient’s mother to inform her of the change and explain the benefits of Omnicef, she was extremely relieved and happy. It was a great feeling to know that we could provide a safe and effective alternative that met the needs of the young patient.

This experience highlights the importance of thorough research and effective communication between healthcare providers and pharmacists. I’m glad we could find a solution that satisfied everyone involved.

Until tomorrow, Rania – Your Friendly Pharmacist at Doctor’s Choice Pharmacy
