Today brought another opportunity to make a positive impact, this time with Mrs. Nu, who sought guidance on her daughter’s prescription for tretinoin cream to treat acne. It’s moments like these that remind me of the importance of patient education and the role we play as pharmacists in supporting our community’s skincare journey.
Mrs. Nu approached me with a mixture of concern and eagerness, curious about how to best utilize tretinoin cream for her daughter’s acne. With a friendly demeanor and a wealth of information at my disposal, I was ready to assist her every step of the way.
We began our conversation by discussing the details of her daughter’s prescription. Tretinoin cream is a topical retinoid commonly used to treat acne by promoting skin cell turnover and preventing the formation of new acne lesions. I explained to Mrs. Nu that consistency is key when using tretinoin cream for acne, as it may take several weeks to see noticeable improvements in her daughter’s skin.
Next, I provided Mrs. Nu with detailed instructions on how to use tretinoin cream effectively:
1. Wash the face with a mild cleanser and pat dry.
2. Apply a pea-sized amount of tretinoin cream to the affected areas, avoiding the eyes, lips, and any areas of broken skin.
