Today at Doctor’s Choice Pharmacy, I spoke with a new patient who had just heard about Low-Dose Naltrexone (LDN) through a support group for autoimmune conditions. “Is this something you offer?” she asked hopefully.

“Yes, we compound LDN regularly,” I replied. “It’s one of the most talked-about medications for immune modulation, especially among patients with conditions like Hashimoto’s, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and Crohn’s disease.”

She was surprised. “I thought naltrexone was for addiction?”

I smiled. “That’s true at the full 50 mg dose. But at very low doses—typically 1.5 to 4.5 mg—LDN has a completely different effect. It helps boost endorphin production and balances immune system activity, which is why it’s gaining traction for managing chronic inflammatory and autoimmune conditions.”

She asked if it had any major side effects.

“LDN is generally well-tolerated,” I said. “Some people may experience vivid dreams or slight sleep disturbance in the beginning, but it usually improves with time. We also compound it in various dosage forms like capsules and suspensions, depending on your provider’s guidance.”

As I explained, I could see her confidence growing. “That sounds promising,” she said. “I’ll talk to my doctor.”

Before we ended our call, I added, “We prepare LDN in our state-of-the-art compounding lab, and soon, our new hazardous compounding lab will allow us to expand our formulations even more.”

It’s incredible to see how innovative therapies like LDN are changing the way we manage chronic conditions—offering hope, control, and a better quality of life.

Until tomorrow,
